Synopsis - Issue Tracker

Do whatever is necessary to port synopsis to Darwin.

While some progress has been made, the build process
presently stops when compiling extension modules
because distutils generates subdirectories with
whitespace, which confuses pkg-config.
I can see three options:

* fix pkg-config
* find a way to escape the whitespace in the
  pc file
* instruct distutils to avoid whitespace when
  setting up the build tree

This is reported to work now (Fink).
